The National Center for Smart Growth is staffed by eight faculty members with appointments in the University of Maryland’s School of Architecture. The NCSG also has several staff and research staff who administer programs and assist with operations. NCSG annually employs about ten undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. research assistants on various projects.
Additionally, nearly two dozen University of Maryland faculty members, faculty from other academic institutions, and public and private sector professionals are affiliates of the National Center for Smart Growth. Areas of expertise include public policy, agricultural economics, American studies, geography, landscape architecture, engineering, urban design, architecture and community planning.
