This initiative uses the Baltimore Avenue Corridor in College Park, MD as a smart cities lab,  focusing on applying smart cities technologies to the critical needs and opportunities facing the Baltimore Avenue Corridor.

The National Science Foundation has awarded the National Center for Smart Growth a Smart and Connected Communities Planning grant to develop a strategic plan for addressing the question of how investments in smart cities technologies can improve the lives of low-income, inner-city residents. 

This project employs an Internet of Things (IoT) framework and smart sensors to monitor and improve stormwater management on the University of Maryland Campus
