Katy June-Friesen is a writer/editor for NCSG and the Small Business Anti-displacement Project. She is a Ph.D. candidate in the Philip Merrill College of Journalism, where she researches representations of race, class, and place in news. Her dissertation examines the journalism and public discourse about (re)development, neighborhood change, and spatial inequality in the Washington, D.C., suburbs. She has worked in media for 15 years, and her journalism has appeared in national magazines and newspapers. She is an editor for nonprofit and scholarly publications and a writer and researcher for documentary media and public history projects.
